At Klayvi, we take your privacy as seriously as we take the safety of what we put in our clay. This policy explains clearly and completely what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it.
Please read it. It is written to be understood, not to be avoided.

Information From Third Parties
We may receive information about you from third-party platforms if you interact with our content on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, or Twitter, or if you sign in using a social login. We may also receive information from our logistics partners (Shiprocket, Delhivery, Blue Dart) regarding delivery status and any issues with your order.
How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information only for legitimate purposes. Specifically:
To fulfil your order. Your name, delivery address, phone number, and payment details are necessary to process and dispatch your purchase, send you tracking information, and handle any issues that arise with your order.
To manage your account. If you create a Klayvi account, we use your information to maintain it, allow you to view your order history, and manage your preferences.
To communicate with you. We send order confirmations, dispatch notifications, and delivery updates as a matter of course. If you have opted in, we also send our newsletter, product updates, seasonal offers, and content about clay care and wellness. You can unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time.
To run our WhatsApp onboarding programme. If you have shared your WhatsApp number and consented to communication via that channel, we use it to send our 30-day clay onboarding sequence — seasoning guidance, care tips, recipes, and your re-seasoning reminder at the one-month mark. You can opt out of this at any point by replying STOP.
To manage the Klayvi Circle membership. If you are a Klayvi Circle member, we use your information to manage your subscription, dispatch your annual Revival Kit, and provide you with member benefits and early access.
To improve our products and website. We analyse aggregated, anonymised data about how people use our website and which products they engage with. This helps us improve the shopping experience, identify which content is useful, and develop new products.
To handle returns, warranty claims, and customer service queries. We retain relevant order and communication information to process your requests accurately and efficiently.
To prevent fraud and ensure security. We use certain data to detect and prevent fraudulent orders, unauthorised account access, and other misuse of our platform.
To meet our legal obligations. We retain certain records as required by Indian tax law, consumer protection regulations, and FSSAI compliance obligations.
The Legal Bases on Which We Process Your Data
We process your personal information on one or more of the following grounds:
Contractual necessity. Processing your order, managing your account, arranging delivery, and handling returns all require us to process your personal data. Without it, we cannot fulfil our obligations to you.
Legitimate interests. We have a legitimate interest in understanding how our website is used, preventing fraud, improving our products, and communicating with existing customers about relevant updates. We balance this against your right to privacy and do not use this basis for intrusive or unexpected processing.
Consent. Where we ask for your explicit agreement — such as when you sign up for our newsletter, join the WhatsApp onboarding programme, or agree to receive marketing communications — we process your data on the basis of your consent. You may withdraw this consent at any time.
Legal obligation. Where we are required by law to retain or process certain information, we do so to remain compliant.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Our website uses cookies — small text files stored on your device — to make the site work properly and to understand how it is being used.
Essential cookies are necessary for the website to function. They enable the shopping cart, secure checkout, and account login. You cannot opt out of these without disabling our site entirely.
Analytics cookies help us understand visitor behaviour — which pages are popular, where people drop off, and how they arrived at our site. We use this information in aggregate, never to identify you individually.
Marketing cookies allow us to show you relevant advertisements on other platforms after you have visited our site. These are only active if you have given your consent.
When you first visit klayvi.com, you will be given the option to accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your preferences at any time through the cookie settings link in our website footer. You can also manage cookies directly through your browser settings.
Who We Share Your Information With
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We share it only where necessary to deliver our service:
Logistics and courier partners — Shiprocket, Delhivery, Blue Dart, and Xpressbees receive your name, delivery address, and phone number to arrange and track delivery of your order.
Payment processors — Razorpay handles all payment transactions. Your card details are processed directly by Razorpay on their secure, PCI-DSS compliant infrastructure. Klayvi does not store, transmit, or have access to your full card details.
Email and marketing platforms — Klaviyo manages our email communications. If you have subscribed to our newsletter or placed an order, your email address and relevant order data are shared with Klaviyo for this purpose.
WhatsApp automation — Interakt or AiSensy facilitates our WhatsApp onboarding programme. If you have opted in to WhatsApp communication, your phone number is shared with our WhatsApp business platform provider.
Website and e-commerce infrastructure — Our website is hosted on Shopify, which processes certain data as part of operating our online store. Shopify’s own privacy practices govern how they handle this data.
Analytics providers — We use tools such as Google Analytics to understand website traffic. This data is anonymised and aggregated.
Legal and regulatory authorities — We may disclose your information to government bodies, courts, or regulators where we are legally required to do so.
All third parties with whom we share data are required to handle it in accordance with applicable privacy laws and our data processing agreements.
International Data Transfers
Some of the third-party platforms we work with — including Shopify, Klaviyo, and Google Analytics — store and process data on servers located outside India, including in the United States and Europe. Where data is transferred internationally, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place, including standard contractual clauses and compliance with applicable data protection regulations.
How Long We Keep Your Information
We retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law.
Specifically:
- Order and transaction records are retained for a minimum of 7 years to comply with Indian tax and accounting requirements
- Account information is retained for as long as your account remains active, and for a reasonable period thereafter in case you return
- Marketing preferences and communications are retained until you unsubscribe or withdraw consent, after which we retain a suppression record to ensure we do not contact you again without a fresh opt-in
- Customer service correspondence is retained for 3 years after the matter is resolved
- Warranty records are retained for the duration of the warranty period plus 1 year
When data is no longer required, it is securely deleted or anonymised.
Your Rights
Under applicable Indian data protection law and, where relevant, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
The right to access. You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you. We will provide this within 30 days of your request.
The right to correction. If any information we hold about you is inaccurate or incomplete, you may ask us to correct it.
The right to erasure. You may ask us to delete your personal data where we have no legitimate reason to continue holding it. Note that we may be unable to erase certain records where we are legally required to retain them.
The right to restrict processing. You may ask us to pause processing your data in certain circumstances — for example, while you contest its accuracy.
The right to object. You may object to our processing of your data where we rely on legitimate interests as our legal basis. You also have an absolute right to object to processing for direct marketing purposes.
The right to data portability. Where processing is based on your consent or on a contract, you may request your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
The right to withdraw consent. Where we process your data on the basis of consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at contact@klayvi.com with your name, email address, and a clear description of your request. We will respond within 30 days. We do not charge for reasonable requests, though we may charge a modest fee for manifestly unfounded or repetitive requests.
Children’s Privacy
Klayvi’s products and website are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without appropriate consent, please contact us at contact@klayvi.com and we will delete it promptly.
Links to Other Websites
Our website may contain links to third-party websites — including our social media profiles, partner platforms, and reference sources cited in our content. This privacy policy applies solely to klayvi.com. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any website we link to, and we encourage you to read the privacy policies of those sites before sharing any information with them.
Security
We take reasonable and appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include encrypted data transmission (SSL/TLS), secure payment processing through PCI-DSS compliant providers, access controls on internal systems, and regular review of our security practices.
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is entirely secure. While we do everything reasonable to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If you become aware of any security vulnerability or unauthorised use of your data in connection with Klayvi, please notify us immediately at contact@klayvi.com.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time — for example, to reflect changes in our practices, new legal requirements, or the introduction of new products and services.
When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email or through a notice on our website. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
Continued use of our website and services after changes are published constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
Contact and Complaints
If you have any questions, concerns, or complaints about how we handle your personal data, please contact us in the first instance:
Email: contact@klayvi.com Hours: Monday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM IST
We take all privacy concerns seriously and will respond within 5 working days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to raise your concern with the relevant data protection authority. In India, data protection oversight is evolving under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. We remain committed to full compliance with applicable Indian data protection law and any guidance issued under it.
This policy was written to be read, not filed away. If any part of it is unclear, email us and we will explain it plainly.
